China Mobile recently announced that its board of directors has appointed Mr. Chen Yangfan as an executive director and chief executive officer of the company, as well as a member of the Sustainability Committee, effective June 16, 2026.
Mr. Chen Yangfan, aged 50, currently serves as a director and general manager of China Mobile Communications Group Co., Ltd. and China Mobile Communications Corporation, the company's ultimate controlling shareholders. He holds a master's degree.
Mr. Chen has previously held senior positions including senior vice president of the Corporate Client Business Group at the headquarters of China United Network Communications Group Co., Ltd.; general manager of the Guizhou branch of China United Network Communications Co., Ltd.; deputy general manager of China COSCO Shipping Corporation Limited; vice chairman and executive director of COSCO Shipping Holdings Co., Ltd.; executive director and chief executive officer of Orient Overseas (International) Limited; and director of China Electronics Corporation.
According to the announcement, Mr. Chen is entitled to a director's fee of HK$180,000 per annum, as recommended by the board and approved by the company's shareholders. In addition, he is entitled to a fee of HK$60,000 per annum for serving as a member of the Sustainability Committee. However, Mr. Chen has voluntarily waived all of the above remuneration.
