On March 30, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) approved the establishment of a national-level internet backbone direct connection point in Shenzhen. As a core node for achieving interconnection between internet backbone networks, the national-level direct connection point serves as a crucial communications hub for aggregating and exchanging cross-network traffic. To date, the MIIT has approved the establishment of 30 such direct connection points, further optimizing the layout of China's interconnection infrastructure, enhancing overall internet communication performance and efficiency, and driving the digital transformation and upgrading of traditional industries across various regions.
Going forward, the MIIT will guide the Guangdong Communications Administration and basic telecom enterprises in the construction, operation, and maintenance of the Shenzhen direct connection point, ensuring its successful completion and effective operation. This will support the high-quality development of the regional digital economy and provide strong backing for the construction of a "cyber power" and "Digital China."
