On July 21, the China Internet Network Information Center released the 56th Statistical Report on China's Internet Development.
The report shows that in the first half of 2025, China's generative AI products achieved comprehensive progress from technology to application, with a rapid increase in product numbers and continuous expansion of application scenarios.
First, China's influence in the field of artificial intelligence has significantly increased. As of March, a total of 346 generative AI services had completed the filing with the Cyberspace Administration of China. The emergence of China's AI products has attracted global attention. For instance, DeepSeek surpassed 30 million daily active users worldwide within less than 20 days of its launch, topping the app markets in 140 countries and regions, becoming the fastest-growing generative AI application in terms of global user growth.
Second, generative AI technology has increasingly penetrated specific application scenarios. In terms of user engagement, as of June, the highest proportion of users, reaching 80.9%, utilized generative AI products to answer questions. On the industrial front, China's AI industry scale exceeded 700 billion yuan in 2024, maintaining a growth rate of over 20% for multiple consecutive years. Domestic AI products have not only achieved breakthroughs in areas such as trillion-level parameter models and multimodal capabilities but have also deeply integrated with scenarios like collaborative office work, inclusive education, industrial design, and content creation, building a smart application ecosystem covering multiple fields.
The report also indicates that as of June, China's internet user base reached 1.123 billion, with an internet penetration rate of 79.7%. The number of "silver-haired" internet users aged 60 and above reached 161 million, while rural internet users totaled 322 million, showing steady growth trends.
