Domestic Market Saw a YoY Decrease of 32.9% in Mobile Phone Shipments in Feb

The China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT) released the "Analysis Report on the Operation of the Domestic Mobile Phone Market in February 2024" on March 26th. The report reveals that in February 2024, the domestic market witnessed a decline of 32.9% in mobile phone shipments, with a total of 14.257 million units. Among these, 12.532 million units were 5G smartphones, representing 87.9% of the total shipments, and experiencing a decrease of 29.2% compared to the same period last year.

From January to February, the domestic market saw a growth of 14.6% in mobile phone shipments, reaching 46.035 million units. Out of these, 38.697 million units were 5G smartphones, accounting for 84.1% of the total shipments and experiencing a growth of 13.3% compared to the same period last year.

In February, there were 21 new smartphone models launched in the domestic market, showing a decrease of 25.0% compared to the same period last year. Among these, 17 were 5G smartphones, indicating a growth of 54.5% and accounting for 81.0% of the total number of new smartphone models launched during that period.

From January to February, there were 50 new smartphone models launched in the domestic market, showing a growth of 22.0% compared to the same period last year. Among these, 26 were 5G smartphones, reflecting a growth of 44.4% and accounting for 52.0% of the total number of new smartphone models launched during that period.

In February, domestic brand smartphones recorded a shipment of 11.842 million units, experiencing a decline of 32.5% and accounting for 83.1% of the total shipments during that period. Additionally, 19 new models were launched, showing a decrease of 26.9% and accounting for 90.5% of the total number of new smartphone models launched during that period.

From January to February, domestic brand smartphones witnessed a growth of 38.7% in shipments, reaching 38.078 million units, and comprising 82.7% of the total shipments during that period. Moreover, 45 new models were launched, experiencing a growth of 18.4% and accounting for 90.0% of the total number of new smartphone models launched during that period.
