On September 13th, the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT) released its analysis report on the operation of the domestic mobile phone market in July 2023.
The data shows that in July 2023, the domestic market saw a shipment of 18.552 million mobile phones, a year-on-year decrease of 6.8%. Among them, 15.058 million units were 5G mobile phones, a year-on-year growth of 2.6%, accounting for 81.2% of the total mobile phone shipments during the same period.
There were 35 new models of mobile phones launched in the domestic market, a year-on-year increase of 59.1%. Among them, 18 models were 5G mobile phones, a year-on-year increase of 100.0%, accounting for 51.4% of the total number of new mobile phone models launched during the same period.
From January to July, the cumulative total shipment of mobile phones in the domestic market reached 148 million units, a year-on-year decrease of 5.1%. Among them, the shipment of 5G mobile phones was 117 million units, a year-on-year decrease of 5.3%, accounting for 79.2% of the total mobile phone shipments during the same period.
The cumulative total of newly launched mobile phone models reached 238, a year-on-year increase of 6.7%. Among them, 103 models were 5G mobile phones, a year-on-year decrease of 14.9%, accounting for 43.3% of the total number of new mobile phone models launched during the same period.
