76-79GHz Band Allocated by MIIT for Automotive Radar

Updated:2021/12/9 13:55

MIIT published the Interim Radio Regulation on Automotive Radar on December 6. The Regulation stipulates the use of a 76-79GHz band for vehicle radar devices in such scenarios as self-adaptive cruise control, collision prevention, blind-spot detection, lane change assistance, parking assistance, rear cross-traffic alert, and pedestrian detection. In addition, the frequency band is not allowed for other ground-based radars or radars built-in aircraft (including UAVs, balloons, airships, etc.), unless otherwise specified by the State Radio Regulation of China (SRRC).

The Regulation will become effective as of March 1, 2022. And from then on, the SRRC will not settle for and approve model functions for 24.25-26.65GHz vehicular radar radio transmitters. But 24.25-26.65GHz vehicle radars already used in compliance with prior regulations and 76-77GHz ranging radars put into use before the enforcement of the MIIT 2019 No.52 Bulletin (dated November 19, 2019) will remain in use till unserviceable in principle.
