At a press conference held by the State Council Information Office on July 14, it was announced that, according to customs statistics, China's total goods trade import and export reached RMB 25.47 trillion in the first half of the year, up 16.9% year on year. Exports stood at RMB 14.73 trillion, growing 13.4%, while imports totaled RMB 10.74 trillion, an increase of 22.1%.
Driven by the rapid development of artificial intelligence, China's imports and exports of related products have gathered strong momentum. In the first half of the year, trade in computing hardware — including electronic components and computer parts — amounted to RMB 5.13 trillion, a rise of 56.6%. Smart products such as AI glasses, AI translators and mechanical exoskeletons are being iterated at a fast pace, with a steady stream of innovative devices reaching the market.
A United Nations report indicates that global goods trade growth so far this year has been concentrated largely in AI-related sectors. Continued expansion in global demand for computing power, data centers and terminal equipment has bolstered China's exports of these products. In the first half, exports of electronic components and computer parts both posted double-digit growth, collectively contributing 6.9 percentage points to overall export growth. In addition, more than 10,000 intelligent bionic robots — deeply integrated with AI technology — were exported to over 90 countries and regions worldwide.
