On October 23, the State Council Information Office held a press conference to introduce the development of industry and information technology in the first three quarters of 2024. During the conference, Tao Qing, spokesperson for the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and Director of the Operation Monitoring and Coordination Bureau, addressed the issue of the "popularization and application of new-generation information technology." He stated that efforts were being made to promote the integration of the industrial internet with key industry chains around the themes of "smart transformation, digital transition, and network connectivity." A series of integration and application guidelines for key industries such as steel, electronic information, and engineering machinery have been released, and 40 typical scenarios across 15 processes, including product design, planning and scheduling, and quality control, were developed.
Tao Qing revealed that 5G industry applications now cover 76 major categories of the national economy, indirectly driving a total output of about 14 trillion yuan.
He further explained that technologies such as artificial intelligence and 5G have achieved large-scale application, resulting in 135 exemplary cases of new digital services that span fields like transportation, culture and tourism, elderly care, healthcare, and emergency response.
For example, in healthcare, there are nearly a thousand pilot projects under the "5G+ Healthcare" initiative. These projects, which include remote intelligent diagnosis and AI-assisted diagnosis, have reduced misdiagnoses and missed diagnoses, thereby improving diagnostic accuracy. In the culture and tourism sector, during the National Day holiday, the acceleration of technologies like cloud computing, big data, and geographic information systems enabled the emergence of new scenarios such as smart navigation, smart parking, and round-the-clock emergency services, precisely meeting tourists' personalized needs.
