At the "2024 Beijing Internet Conference" held on September 19, Zhao Zhiguo, Chief Engineer of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, stated in his speech that in the digital era, the transformation of productivity elements towards digitalization, networking, and intelligence is prompting profound changes in economic development models and social operation modes. The new generation of information and communication technologies, represented by the Internet, cloud computing, big data, and artificial intelligence, are achieving breakthroughs and cross-evolution, accelerating the transformation of productivity to new qualitative levels.
Currently, our country has established the world's largest and most technologically advanced network infrastructure. The number of 5G base stations exceeds 4 million, and the number of gigabit broadband access users has reached 190 million, achieving "gigabit connectivity in every city, 5G in every town, and broadband in every village." The level of computing power infrastructure is continuously improving, with the total computing power scale reaching 246 EFLOPS, ranking second globally, of which intelligent computing accounts for 76 EFLOPS or 31% of the total computing power. The commercial deployment of 400G high-performance transmission networks is ongoing, with the number of 400G ports significantly increasing to 9,000, better supporting the high-speed and efficient interconnection of computing power resources and data elements across entities, types, and regions.
Key technologies in mobile communication are rapidly advancing, with the completion of full-frequency 5G lightweight commercial validation covering high, medium, and low frequency bands, and accelerated research and innovation in 6G technology. 5G applications have been integrated into 74 out of 97 major categories of the national economy, achieving large-scale application and promotion in key areas such as industry, mining, power, and healthcare. There are more than 14,000 "5G+ Industrial Internet" projects, and application empowerment is rapidly expanding to core control links. The cumulative number of industrial internet identifier registrations has exceeded 510 billion, with 340 influential industrial internet platforms built, empowering various industries and aiding the upgrade of the manufacturing sector.
