According to the official “China Unicom 5G Millimeter Wave Technology White Paper 3.0” released recently, China Unicom will promote millimeter wave network capability in “three stages”: in 2023, conduct scenario-based deployment trials of the millimeter wave network on top of the frequency policy; in 2024, verify R18 and other key capabilities; in 2025, deploy innovative applications of millimeter wave.
From 2018 to 2021, China Unicom released 5G millimeter wave technology white papers 1.0 and 2.0 for two consecutive years, presenting to the industry the latest industry dynamics, key technologies, equipment systems, and multiple network architecture solutions of millimeter wave. This has also laid the foundation for the development of the 5G millimeter wave industry chain.
