China Mobile's Revenue Reaches RMB 443.6 Billion in H1 2021

On August 12, China Mobile released its 2021 mid-term business performance report. According to the data, in the first half of 2021, China Mobile's operating revenue reached RMB 443.6 billion, an increase of 13.8% year-on-year, of which revenue from communications services reached RMB 393.2 billion, an increase of 9.8% year-on-year, an increasing range exceeded the industry average. Its performance has achieved positive growth in the personal market, outstanding performance in the household market, government-enterprise market, and emerging market, achieving rapid growth in double-digit ratio, and further optimization of CHBN's income structure. Benefiting from the rapid expansion of smart home and DICT services, the proportion of revenue from new information-oriented services, namely non-traditional communication services, has further increased, and development momentum has continued to increase.

In the first half of the year, China Mobile attached great importance to the development of 5G services. The development of 5G-related services has been switched into the fast lane. In the financial report, it stated that in the first half of 2021, China Mobile's related investment in 5G business totaled RMB 50.2 billion. As of the end of June, a total of 501,000 5G base stations have been opened and put into use, providing 5G services to urban areas, some counties and key areas above prefectures and cities in China. Adhering to the principle of "Co-construction, Sharing, and Win-win", the 700MHz network co-construction and sharing project with China Broadcasting Network Group Co., Ltd. has been promoted in an orderly manner. So far, China Mobile has completed the centralized procurement of wireless network main equipment and antennas on behalf of both parties.

In terms of leading the development of 5G standards and technological evolution, China Mobile has contributed 23 new projects to international standardization organizations such as 3GPP/ITU, reaching 122 leading standard projects in total, and has led the development of standards in key areas of R17. Moreover, China Mobile has united more than 20 companies and released the 5G Wireless Evolution White Paper: Towards A Sustainable 5G, which defines the future evolution direction of R18 and evolution standards. Furthermore, over 3,300 5G patents have been successfully applied for, and the reserve of standard patents ranks on the top level among global operators.
