China's Mobile Broadband Penetration up to 77%

The State Council Information Office of the People's Republic of China held a press conference on July 25.

Zhang Feng, chief engineer of Ministry of Industry and Information Technology said at the conference China in the first half of the year has maintained a rapid development in the information & communication industry and stepped up broadband speed improvement and tariff cut.

For the first half of 2017, the domestic fixed broadband penetration rose to 67 percent while mobile broadband adoption was up to 77.4 percent, fulfilling the annual goal.

The telecom service revenue increased 5.7 percent compared with last year while the Internet and related service revenue was up 19.8 percent. 4G user has surged by 120 million to 890 million, accounting for 65 percent of the China's mobile users; fiber access user represents 80.9 percent, and software business revenue grew 13.2 percent.

MIIT will significantly strengthen the support of the information and communication industry for the economic society as the next step.
