According to the latest report on the "Economic Performance of the Telecommunications Industry from January to July 2023" released by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, as of the end of July, China has cumulatively built 3.055 million 5G base stations, accounting for 26.9% of the total number of mobile base stations. The number of 5G mobile phone users in China has reached 695 million households, accounting for 40.6% of the total number of mobile phone users. The number of gigabit broadband access users has reached 134 million households, accounting for 21.7% of the total number of users.
The data shows that from January to July, the three major basic telecommunications companies achieved a total business revenue of 1.0056 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 6.2%. Among them, the revenue from cloud computing and big data increased by 35.5% and 42.2% respectively compared to the same period last year, and the revenue from the Internet of Things business increased by 25.7% year-on-year. The cumulative mobile internet user access traffic nationwide reached 167.7 billion GB, a year-on-year increase of 14.7%.
