In response, Lei Jun stated on Weibo that this is Xiaomi's "strongest performance in history," and specifically mentioned that the revenue from its innovative business segment, including smart electric vehicles, was 9.7 billion yuan.
In the third quarter, revenue from Xiaomi's smartphone × AIoT segment was 82.8 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 16.8%. Xiaomi's global smartphone shipments reached 43.1 million units, a year-on-year increase of 3.1%. As of September 30, 2024, the number of IoT devices connected to Xiaomi's AIoT platform (excluding smartphones, tablets, and notebook computers) grew to 861.4 million, a year-on-year increase of 23.2%.
In terms of research and development, Xiaomi's R&D expenditure in the third quarter of 2024 reached 6.0 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 19.9%. As of September 30, 2024, the number of R&D personnel reached 20,436, accounting for 48.6% of the total number of employees. As of September 30, 2024, Xiaomi Group had obtained more than 41,000 patents worldwide. Among them, Xiaomi's ranking in the global patent family enterprise ranking for 5G standard essential patent declarations in 2024 rose to eighth globally.
