At the 2021 National Industry and Information Conference held on December 28, Xiao Yaqing, Minister of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology(MIIT), addressed that construction and application of 5G will be facilitated in 2021 in an orderly manner. 5G coverage will be extended to major cities rapidly, and joint construction and sharing will be promoted to build over 600,000 5G base stations.
According to Xiao Yaqing, industrial 5G pilot projects could be implemented in 10 key industries under 20 typical industrial application scenarios. Besides, plans for 5G millimeter wave frequency for certain frequency bands will be released in due course.
In addition, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology will also promote network optimization and upgrading to increase the number of gigabit users to over 200 million.
