With the deployment of 5G on a worldwide scale and further promotion of its application in vertical industries, it has become a tricky problem for industry chains to find more high-quality spectrum resources and support the sustainable development and success of 5G.
As a medium frequency band with a continuous bandwidth of 700MHz~1200MHz, 6GHz is the best candidate to offer wide area high-capacity connectivity. Moreover, with efforts of China, WCR-19 has decided to add IMT (5G or 6G) identification of the 6GHz (6425-7125MHz) band, and the 6GHz standardization work in 3GPP is pushed forward in order.
Recently, in the Global 6GHz Conference, 23 enterprises and organizations such as GSMA, Ericsson, Huawei, Nokia, ZTE, ETNO (European Telecommunications Network Operators' Association), ECTA (European Competitive Telecommunications Association), Elisa, Etisalat, Telia, Telefónica, EDF, China Mobile, China Telecom, China Unicom, DTmobile, OPPO, STC, vivo, Zain, MI, Lenovo and UNISOC made a joint statement of supporting the 6GHz band for IMT, jointly pushing forward research on WRC-23 6GHz IMT spectrum, and jointly developing and building an end-to-end industry chain together.
