According to statistics from the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT), in April, the domestic market mobile phone shipments reached 24.071 million units, an increase of 28.8% year-on-year. Among these, 5G mobile phones accounted for 20.232 million units, a year-on-year increase of 52.2%, representing 84.1% of the total for the same period.
From January to April, the domestic market mobile phone shipments totaled 91.486 million units, a year-on-year increase of 12.3%. Among these, 5G mobile phones accounted for 76.665 million units, a year-on-year increase of 18.3%, representing 83.8% of the total mobile phone shipments for the same period.
In April, 33 new mobile phone models were launched in the domestic market, a year-on-year decrease of 45.0%. Among them, 22 were 5G mobile phones, a year-on-year decrease of 24.1%, accounting for 66.7% of the new mobile phone models launched during the same period. Domestic brand mobile phone shipments reached 20.576 million units, a year-on-year increase of 25.5%, representing 85.5% of total mobile phone shipments for the same period. There were 32 new mobile phone models from domestic brands, a year-on-year decrease of 41.8%, accounting for 97.0% of the new mobile phone models launched during the same period.
From January to April, 130 new mobile phone models were launched in the domestic market, a year-on-year decrease of 12.8%. Among these, 71 were 5G mobile phones, a year-on-year increase of 6.0%, representing 54.6% of the new mobile phone models launched during the same period. Domestic brand mobile phone shipments reached 76.286 million units, a year-on-year increase of 20.9%, representing 83.4% of total for the same period. There were 120 new mobile phone models from domestic brands, a year-on-year decrease of 13.0%, accounting for 92.3% of the new mobile phone models launched during the same period.
