Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corporation (SMIC) released the report on its fourth quarter performance in 2022. According to the report, the company’s operating revenue stood at 11,752 million yuan in the fourth quarter, up by 14.6% year on year; Its net profit attributable to shareholders of the listed company arrived at 2,743 million yuan in the quarter, down by 19.7% year on year.
The fourth quarter of 2022 saw a year-on-year decrease in the operating profit, gross profit and net profit attributable to shareholders of the listed company, mainly because earnings from both investments in affiliated businesses and financial assets dropped and less government subsidy-related income was recognized in this period.
SMIC completed around 43.2 billion yuan of capital expenditure in 2022. By the end of the year, its monthly capacity has reached 714,000 for 8-inch equivalent wafers, with an annual capacity utilization rate of 92%. By the end of 2022, SMIC Shenzhen has entered into production, SIMIC Jingcheng has entered into pilot production, SMIC Lingang has completed the construction of the main fab shell, and SMIC Xiqing has started the construction. The mass production of SMIC Jingcheng is expected to be postponed by one to two quarters due to a delay in the delivery of bottleneck equipment.
