“Even in the most difficult and the most intense moments of last year—a cut in our marketing expenses, a cut in our platform expenses—we managed to maintain our R&D input, which was even over the budget made at the beginning of the year. Last year, we invested more than 10 billion RMB in R&D,” said Xu Ziyang. The newly released 5G SEP shows that ZTE is in the global top three with 1424 disclosures, which represents the contribution of all ZTE employees to the 5G industry.
ZTE has achieved seven-nanometer chips design and mass production in terms of key 5G base station chips, while the five-nanometer chips are under intense preparation. As for equipment, ZTE has also realized independent R&D of key databases and operating systems.
