Today, ByteDance's Doubao team released the technical preview version of the Doubao Mobile Assistant.
Doubao Mobile Assistant is a phone AI assistant developed through collaboration between Doubao and smartphone manufacturers at the operating system level. Leveraging the capabilities of Doubao's large model and the authorization from phone manufacturers, Doubao Mobile Assistant aims to provide users with more convenient interactions and a richer experience.
Regarding the implementation path of Doubao Mobile Assistant, Doubao has previously stated that there are no plans to develop its own smartphones. Instead, it is currently in discussions with multiple phone manufacturers to integrate Doubao Mobile Assistant into devices of different brands through "ecosystem partnerships."
Now, developers and tech enthusiasts can experience the technical preview version of Doubao Mobile Assistant on the engineering prototype nubia M153, a product of Doubao's collaboration with ZTE.
Doubao emphasized that the software on this phone may not yet match the functionality and maturity of mainstream flagship models on the market, such as potential gaps in camera performance. The software on the nubia M153 will receive updates approximately every two weeks (excluding holidays) from its release date until the end of the first quarter of 2026.
ZTE also stated that a limited quantity of the engineering prototype nubia M153, featuring the technical preview version of Doubao Mobile Assistant, is currently available for sale.
The nubia M153 is available in a 16GB+512GB configuration, priced at 3,499 yuan.
