Beijing's Computing Power Supply Expected to Exceed 45,000 P by Year-End

Updated:2025/6/9 16:21

Beijing is set to surpass a total computing power supply of 33,000 P by the first quarter of 2025, with expectations of exceeding 45,000 P by the end of 2025, according to the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Economy and Information Technology. This marks a significant milestone in the city's computing power planning, with the initial framework of a comprehensive computing power layout taking shape.

In April this year, the Beijing Digital Economy Computing Center officially commenced operations, with a planned intelligent computing capacity of approximately 2,000 P. The center aims to tackle the challenges posed by domestic AI chips, leveraging the "Sparc・Intelligent Computing" initiative to build a full-stack service system encompassing "computing power + models + data," which is expected to drive deep integration between artificial intelligence and the real economy. Currently, over 90% of the chips used at the center are domestically produced, with performance in certain scenarios reaching industry-leading levels.

To effectively implement forward-looking construction of computing power infrastructure and accelerate the cultivation of a computing power industry ecosystem, the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Economy and Information Technology, alongside relevant departments, issued the "Beijing Computing Power Infrastructure Construction Implementation Plan (2024-2027)" and the "Beijing Stock Data Center Optimization Work Plan (2024-2027)" in 2024.

Key initiatives include the development of four public intelligent computing centers in Haidian, Chaoyang, Yizhuang, and Jingxi (Mentougou, Shijingshan) to establish an integrated computing power collaborative development framework for the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei-Mongolia region. This will enhance the computing power supply corridor, continuously optimize the computing layout, improve the quality of computing power supply, enhance computing power scheduling capabilities, promote dynamic balance in the energy consumption of computing power infrastructure, and accelerate the quality upgrade of existing data centers while advancing their intensive, green, and intelligent construction.

Looking ahead, Beijing will continue to build a national leading computing power infrastructure under the "excellence standard," accelerating the construction of four public intelligent computing centers and two mega P intelligent computing clusters. The city will consistently refine the computing power layout, promote the upgrade and renovation of existing data centers, increase the level of green power utilization, and strengthen computing power scheduling through the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei-Mongolia computing power corridor and Beijing's computing power interconnection and operation service platform, thereby further supporting Beijing's computing power supply.
