China Unicom Plans to Achieve Continuous 5G-A Coverage in Key Areas of 300 Cities by the End of 2025

Updated:2025/2/10 14:03

Following pilot demonstrations in major cities in 2024, China Unicom plans to achieve continuous 5G-A coverage in the urban areas of 39 cities by July this year, and expand to key areas in 300 cities by the end of 2025.

Coinciding with the Ninth Asian Winter Games, China Unicom, the official communication and cloud service partner of the event, unveiled its 5G-A action plan in the beautiful ice city of Harbin. The plan involves enhancing three major scenario capabilities—enhanced mobile broadband (eMBB), massive machine-type communications (mMTC), and ultra-reliable low-latency communications (uRLLC)—while advancing three innovative capabilities: integrated communication and sensing, integrated sky and earth networks, and integrated communication and intelligence. This aims to expand the boundaries of 5G capabilities, rejuvenate digital life, support industrial digital and intelligent upgrades, and accelerate the new development of the 5G-A industry.

China Unicom currently holds the world's largest 240MHz mid-band TDD+FDD aggregated bandwidth (3.5GHz 200MHz + 2.1GHz 40MHz), the world's largest 300MHz mid-band TDD aggregated bandwidth (indoor 3.5GHz 300MHz), and a combined mid-band + millimeter wave bandwidth of 1000MHz (3.5GHz 200MHz + 26GHz 800MHz), capable of delivering an exceptional 5-10Gbps 5G-A service experience.
