Today, the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT) released the December 2025 domestic mobile phone market analysis report. Data shows that in December 2025, domestic mobile phone shipments reached 24.473 million units, a year-on-year decrease of 29.1%. Among these, 5G phone shipments totaled 22.132 million units, down 27.3% year-on-year, accounting for 90.4% of the total mobile phone shipments during the same period.
From January to December 2025, domestic mobile phone shipments totaled 307 million units, a year-on-year decline of 2.4%. Among these, 5G phone shipments reached 266 million units, down 1.9% year-on-year, representing 86.9% of the total mobile phone shipments during the period.
In terms of new models launched, December 2025 saw 41 new mobile phone models released domestically, a year-on-year increase of 28.1%. Among these, 11 were 5G models, up 37.5% year-on-year, accounting for 26.8% of all new models launched during the same period.
From January to December 2025, a total of 515 new mobile phone models were launched domestically, marking a year-on-year increase of 15.5%. Among these, 234 were 5G models, up 1.3% year-on-year, accounting for 45.4% of all new models launched during the period.
Regarding brand composition, domestic brand mobile phone shipments in December 2025 amounted to 21.24 million units, a year-on-year decrease of 31.0%, accounting for 86.8% of the total shipments during the same period. Domestic brands launched 40 new models, up 37.9% year-on-year, representing 97.6% of all new models launched during the period.
From January to December 2025, domestic brand mobile phone shipments totaled 262 million units, a year-on-year decline of 2.5%, accounting for 85.5% of the total shipments during the period. Domestic brands launched 491 new models, up 17.2% year-on-year, representing 95.3% of all new models launched during the period.
