The 2022 Statistical Bulletin of Telecommunication Industry released by China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology showed that three basic telecommunication enterprises together with China Tower have invested 419.3 billion in telecommunication infrastructure, a year-on-year increase of 3.3%, among which 180.3 billion were invested in 5G field, accounting for 43% of the total investment and a year-on-year decrease of 2.5% due to factors such as higher base in the same period of last year.
According to the Bulletin, there were 10.83 million mobile telecommunication base stations in China as of the end of 2022, a net increase of 870,000 over last year. There were 2.312 million 5G base stations, 887,000 more over last year, accounting for 21.3% of the total mobile base stations and a year-on-year increase of 7 percentage points.
