Updated:2022/9/27 17:05

By the end of July 2022, Beijing built 63,000 5G base stations, up 11,000 from the end of last year, which is equivalent to 28.9 5G base stations per 10,000 people, as suggested in the "2022 workings of the city's communication sector" released by Sun Lixin, a level 2 inspector of the Beijing Communications Administration, at the 19th Beijing Internet Conference.

Sun said the 5G connection is now available within perimeters of the city's 5th ring road, alongside accurate coverage of key areas and typically applied scenarios outside the range of the 5th ring road.

With steady progress made in local broadband network building, the city is also refining its gigabit network service capacity with continuous effort. Till the end of July, the city boasted 20,948,000 Internet BBA ports, a net increase of 640,000 from the prior month. FTTH/O ports in particular expanded 725,000 from December 2021 to 20,072,000, representing 95.8% of Internet BBA ports.
