Personnel Changes at SMIC

On the evening of Nov. 11, Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corp. (SMIC) announced that Shang-Yi Chiang would resign from his office as vice chairman of the board, executive director and member of the strategic committee of the board so as to spend more time with his family. The resignment is with immediate effect.

The personnel changes of SMIC involve 4 directors: Mong-Song Liang resigned from his position as executive director to focus on his responsibility as co-CEO; Jie Zhou resigned from the non-executive director and member of the remuneration committee; Guang-Lei Yang resigned from the independent non-executive director and member of the remuneration committee.

Currently, SMIC has cut its directors from 15 to 11. According to Yong-Gang Gao, its chairman of the board on the exchange of business performance on Nov. 12, the company will see no increase in the number of directors in the short run.
