As revealed by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, China's telecom revenue rose steadily by maintaining double-digit growth in total. Specifically, in the first half of this year, the telecom business revenue totaled 815.8 billion yuan, up 8.3% year on year. That is an increase of 22.7 percent year on year according to constant price.
Among them, fixed Internet broadband service revenue grew steadily. In the first half of the year, three basic telecom enterprises raked in 122 billion yuan in the Internet broadband business, up 9.2% year on year, accounting for 15% of the telecom business revenue. That proportion also climbed by 0.1 percentage points compared to that of the previous year, driving the expansion of the telecom business revenue by 1.4 percentage points.
Mobile data traffic service revenue was ascending at a low pace. In the first half of the year, the mobile data traffic business revenue of three basic telecom enterprises reached 333.6 billion yuan, up 0.7% year on year, accounting for 40.9% of the telecom business revenue, driving the growth of telecom business revenue by 0.3 percentage points.
Emerging business revenue was showing strong impetus. The three basic telecom enterprises’ efforts in boosting the development of IPTV, Internet data center, big data, cloud computing, Internet of things and other emerging businesses contribute to the business revenue of 162.4 billion yuan in the first half year. It sees a climb of 36.3% year on year, accounting for 19.9% of the telecom business revenue, pulling up the growth of telecom business revenue by 5.8 percentage points. Among them, the year-on-year growth rate of cloud computing and big data revenue reached 139.2% and 56.4% respectively. And the year-on-year growth of data center business revenue and the Internet of Things business revenue were 17.3% and 26.9%, respectively.
Their voice revenue continues to decline. In the first half of this year, the revenue of fixed and mobile voice services of the three basic telecom enterprises dropped to 10.4 billion yuan and 58 billion yuan, down 10.8% and 4.4% year-on-year respectively and accounting for 8.4% of the total telecom business revenue. That is a fall of 1.2 percentage points compared with the same period of last year.
