MIIT: SA Mode to be a Default Setting for the New 5G Terminals from Now on

Today, at the conference of the World Telecommunication and Information Society Day, Liu Liehong, vice minister of Industry and Information Technology, delivered a keynote speech. He said that since May 17, Stand Alone (SA) mode would be a default setting for the new 5G terminals in a way to expedite the application maturity of new 5G-based consumer terminals.

Optical fiber and 4G network services have been made accessible to over 99 percent of administrative villages. The people in rural and urban areas enjoy the same network services at the same speed while the digital divide in between has been remarkably narrowed down; by the end of this year, there would be no administrative village that has no access to broadband network services as per dynamic statistic data, he added.
