On April 20, at the first quarterly press conference on industry and information development held by the State Council Information Office, Zhao Zhiguo, a news speaker of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and Secretary of Communications Administration, pointed out that in recent years, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has advanced App personal information protection in such aspects as improving the regulatory system, establishing standards and specifications, promoting technical means, and promoting industry self-regulation. Meanwhile, it has continuously conducted special remediation and achieved stage success. Since this year, it has accomplished the technical tests of 290,000 Apps cumulatively, posed rectification requirements on 1,862 offending Apps, disclosed 319 Apps that failed to achieve full rectification, and pulled 107 Apps that refused rectification.
Zhao Zhiguo mentioned that, in the follow-up stage, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology will take the app personal information protection governance as a solution to the difficulties of the masses and a concrete initiative of serving the masses, and address the issue seriously, practically, and effectively. Firstly, it is imperative to improve management policies and standards. Secondly, the key chain of responsibility regulation must be strengthened. Thirdly, it is necessary to continuously address the difficult and hotspot problems.
