Updated:2019/7/25 10:33

Wen Ku, the Director and Spokesman of Information & Communication Development Department of China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), pointed out rural areas are also key regions that the MIIT develops. The ultimate goal of the MIIT is to make the network and network speed in rural areas the same as those in urban areas. At present, this goal has been basically achieved.

According to a network speed test, the average network speed can reach more than 60 M/S. In terms of mobile network coverage, the MIIT had begun to deploy the 4G network in rural areas before the coming of the 5G network. It’s expected that more than 98% of the 0.55 million administrative villages nationwide will achieve the 4G network coverage by the end of the year.

“This year, in terms of the 5G network coverage, we focus on the network deployment in some key regions, especially some hot-spot areas and metropolises. As we make further progress, we will also begin to deploy the 5G network in rural areas step by step,” revealed Wen Ku.
