UNISOC launched its latest 4G SoC: Tiger T310, targeting the market segment of entry-level 4G smartphones.
Although mainstream manufacturers launched their 5G smartphones in succession, 4G products will still dominate the market at present and even over the coming years. According to market research firm IDC’s forecast, the shipment of 5G smartphones will only account for 0.5% of the total shipment of smartphones in 2019.
This means that the market segment of entry-level 4G smartphones, which Tiger T310 targets, has great potential. In its latest report, CAICT points out that the shipment of China’s smartphones in 2018 was 440 million units, among which 60 million units were sold at the price of 0-999 Yuan. Zhou Chen, UNISOC’s Vice-president of Marketing, emphasized, “Globally, the iteration of smartphones takes a longer time than we expected. For example, in Africa, about 20% of people don’t have a smartphone, and a half of mobile users are using feature phones. Regions like Africa are all target markets of entry-level 4G smartphones. Therefore, theoretically, UNISOC’s market covers 5.5 billion users worldwide.”
