WLAN chip maker Ralink Technology expects its revenues and WLAN chip shipments both to grow over 10% sequentially in the second quarter of 2010, company CFO Bo Chen said at the company's latest investors conference.
Ralink's first-quarter revenues totaled NT$1.677 billion (US$53.27 million), up 4.2% on quarter, while WLAN chip shipments reached 18.4 million units, increasing 6.7% sequentially.
The ASP (average sell price) of Ralink's chips was down 2.4% in the first quarter as compared to the previous quarter, eating out part of sales gains, Chen explained. The company expects its ASP to fall another 2-3% in the second quarter due to tight production at foundry houses and keen market competition.
Gross margin will stay flat at 43.3% in the second quarter, Chen added.
Shipments of 802.11n chips accounted for 79% of Ralink's total shipments of WLAN chips in the first quarter, the company noted.
