Updated:2017/8/9 15:18

A recent media report said that China Unicom had established operating centers jointly with Alibaba and Tencent, causing the speculation that the two technology giants might be the new shareholder of the carrier.

However, China Unicom clarified on August 8 that it did set up operating centers in order to implement the cooperation and innovation focused strategy and accelerate its migration in terms of operation from e-commerce to "Internet+", which had nothing to do with its mixed ownership reform.
