China Unicom & ZTE Completed NB-IoT 900M & 1800M Field Verification

Updated:2017/3/17 17:30

ZTE, China Unicom Network Technology Research Institute and China Unicom Guangdong Branch recently conducted NB-IoT field tests based on 900MHz and 1800MHz bands in Shenzhen, China. The verification focused on the coverage performance of the two kinds of uplink sub-carrier, 3.75K and 15K in the 900MHz and 1800MHz bands and verified further the enhanced covering capability of NB-IoT. The results of the verification offer precious technical experience for national NB-IoT deployments and accelerate the commercial process of NB-IoT in China.

As a next move, ZTE and China Unicom Shenzhen Branch will carry out multi-frequency network field trials and rich the variety of IoT application scenarios to be tested, which provides important evidence for related industry standard setting and network construction deployments.

The release of 3GPP NB-IoT standard signals great improvements in the fragmented IoT industry, and that NB-IoT will be soon be launched as well. After full technical discussion and evaluation, China Unicom officially started trials in 2016 and hopes to know the technical advantages and industry chain maturity of NB-IoT timely.
